Commander Neon Skimask presents: A ransom tape from the Transfeminine Militant Insurrectionary Front (TFMILF)
2020. video performance. written and performed by jordyn rose, directed and edited by dalia coss.
neoliberalism expects us to ask politely, and we might receive the table scraps. there may be slow, conservative, incremental change, as long as we say the right things, and aren’t too loud, or make too much of a fuss. yes, no one likes to see the homosexuals acting a bit too faggy for their own good – why can’t they just act normal?
time’s up. no more asking. now we make the demands.

trans women are the strongest people i know. but when we're seen as a threat for acting in self-defense, there's really no winning.
2019. pencil, watercolour, paper
the overwhelming depiction of trans women is as objects of fetish, and objects of disgust. we can only trust each other to tell our own stories. and when you gaze at our bodies, remember: we see you, and we'll gaze right back.

2018. Ceramic shards attached to nails, installed into wall
I wanted to play with shattered ceramics suspended in space, without obscuring the method. The shards have been attached to the ends of nails, raised and recessed within a rectangle of broken space.
China and nails seem opposed elements but in fact cohabit quite well. They’re both sharp-edged, one brittle, one solid.
The nails themselves become objects of minor mystery in their make and installation – nails with brittle heads become useless for their intended purpose.

The head is coldly rational, the heart too blindly passionate. What then to trust but your guts?
